Ohio's clay soil is not easy to plant in. Heavy, compacted, and poorly drained, it's the number one reason plants struggle after they go in the ground.

Berns Planting Mix is a 50/50 blend of composted pine bark and leaf litter compost — the same pine bark in our Berns Potting Soil. The bark opens up structure and creates the drainage and oxygen roots need. The compost brings organic matter, nutrients, and biological activity that clay soil lacks.

The result is a gradual, natural transition from container to ground — familiar structure, familiar chemistry, better root establishment.
