WelcomeWatering is an imperative. With new or transplanted plants it is necessary for you to frequently check the soil. Do this by pulling the mulch back from the base of each plant and check the soil by poking your finger down into the root ball. If the soil is moist, they are fine however, if the soil is dry you need to water them. Plants do not require daily watering. If there has been one inch or more of rain during the week, the plants will usually not need additional watering. Plants will die from over-watering as readily as from under-watering. The best way to water is to place the hose (with no nozzle) at the base of the plant and let the water trickle slowly until the entire root bass is moistened. Depending on the size of the root ball, the water should trickle from several minutes to 30 minutes or more. This entire process must be repeated often, especially if the weather is hot, dry, or windy. |
